The people around the dog team

Team
2026–2027.

A dog team is supported by more than the musher. This season, Jan Erik, Guro and Karina are part of the team around Lene and the dogs.

Each brings different experience from dogs, outdoor life, training and racing – and contributes to the practical work that carries a full season.

Three people.
Different paths in.

Mushing is about more than the hours on the runners. Training, racing and daily life with the dogs are made possible by people who show up and learn together.

Electrician · all-round handyman · handler

I am well over 50 and live a long stone’s throw from the kennel. I work as an electrician and all-round handyman. I have spent my whole life hunting and fishing, accompanied by various working dogs.

On trips, I usually travel with a pulk or hike with dogs carrying packs. I have now been given the opportunity to join Lene and her dogs in mushing. I have worked as a handler at several races and have gradually gained considerable experience with the team.

From Engerdal · nursing student · dog mushing

I am 22 and come from Engerdal. I grew up with dogs, including elkhounds and Alaskan huskies. During the 2023–2024 school year, I attended the dog-mushing programme at Alta Folk High School. That was where my interest in mushing truly grew.

Before the 2024–2025 season, I contacted Lene. I joined training sessions throughout the season and worked as a handler at Femundløpet. For the 2025–2026 season, I returned to Alta and spent a full year focused on dog mushing. I worked as a kennel assistant at Jøraholmen, had the opportunity to race myself, and served as a handler both there and for Trollhusky at Femundløpet.

I am now studying nursing in Oslo, but I want to continue with dog mushing. Whenever I have time, I hope to join the rest of the team in training Lene’s dogs.

Farm upbringing · animals and outdoor life · dog mushing

I grew up on a farm and have always been surrounded by animals in one form or another. I have long been fascinated by dog mushing, but until now I have not had the opportunity to take part myself.

As my own group of dogs continues to grow, I am happy to join the team and learn good routines from Lene and her dogs. This is going to be a fun season!
